Includes the Dart Gun stuff I spoke about a while back. Took a bit more balancing and tweaking (as well as inclusion of textures missing from the ammo) than I originally thought. The Radscorpion envenomed darts can still cripple the legs of anything that isn’t poison-immune, but you’ll actually have to aim at the legs if you want it to happen in less than four or five shots.
It’s a silent weapon, so you can easily do this from stealth to lone targets; the point was that you can’t get away with crazy crap like this without considerable effort.
Also has the usual slew of minor and updated fixes of previous content additions, like more unique or unused sound effects and icons applied to items to further distinguish them apart.

Well, they fought. A lot. There’s a reason it took nearly another two years for the Gardens of Equestria to be activated after the SPP was. It’s a lot harder to find special ponies with unique qualities when the world around you is (literally) blowing up.
As opposed to having been blown up centuries ago, that is..
The violence was particularly palpable because not only did all these earthbound ponies now have hope in sight, they had a target to take their aggression out on.. the Enclave. Even raiders who didn’t repent for their actions were known to target them, just to spite the pegasi. They usually didn’t even know how to use the stuff they scored from an attack, and at the very least it lightened the load on caravaneers for a while, which helped the NCR to grow even admist the conflict.
Beyond that, no, I’m afraid I can’t share any details without interdimensional consequences. Sorry!

I’m not sure if the Microsoft “Xbox One” (yes, that is what they’re calling their third console..) preview is “better” or worse than Sony’s infamous PS3 press conference from 2006. The whole “fish move out of the way” line isn’t as memetic as “giant enemy crab”, but just, wow, has everyone at Microsoft’s management team lost their fucking minds? First Windows 8 and now this?
I also find it very amusing that Sony’s stock price has soared upwards several points within the last few hours due to how awful MS’s presentation (Nintendo too, but not as much), if it could even be called that, was.
Guys, guys, you can now watch TV on your TV! And play Halos and Call of Duty and EA Sports games! ON THE XBOX! This is totally worth highlighting! And it’s pretty bad when even the press are tweeting that nobody in the audience is cheering except possibly MS employees.. you’re using canned applause? Seriously? Wow.

* At least the PS4 has an excuse to ditch backwards compatability since it’s using a whole different architecture. But the XBox.. isn’t. It’s still just a glorified PC, just like the previous two, so they’re just being assholes and wanting you to buy everything again.
EDIT: And looks like I was only half-right about that. The XBox 360 uses a number of standard PC components, but the PowerPC processor it employs is not one of them, and the core hardware is customized to the platform. I was confused because there’s been for many years emulation in both hardware and software for x86 instruction sets (which the 360 has for nearly 300 original Xbox games!), but apparently that doesn’t matter anymore. Everything else I said still applies in original context, though..

New Vegas has better writing, but Fallout 3 shines through in moments like this one. Deep thoughts from our ditzy shopkeeper, which also happens to tie in perfectly with the Mojave’s lessons.. to begin again. Let go.
Be inspired by the past, but don’t live in it. You can make the world better that way, not just for yourself, but for everyone. Nostalgia is fine, and can be awesome, but it also shouldn’t be your end goal. Learn from the past to make a better future, or be doomed to be held behind by it.

Well, first of all, it’s about eleven years after I entered the SPP from my perspective (the ten year epilogue plus an indeterminate amount of time to count for the year of this Tumblr’s existence). So it wasn’t just the activation of the SPP, but the Elements of Harmony being used to cast the Gardens of Equestria’s purging spell a few years after that, which cleansed virtually all sources of ionizing radiation from the entire nation.*
* Not that this didn’t cause problems too, like microfusion cells being rendered inoperative and all but the deepest underground reactors were put into an inert status.. not to mention that ghouls are forced to get dirty water from beyond Equestria just to survive..
But you’d be surprised how much of an affect that sunlight has on mood, especially to a land that only had the bare minimal amount of exposure due to the centuries-long cloud cover. From what I’ve read of the human world, this is actually a real problem in certain parts of the planet, particularly those which, due to their location, experience long periods of little to no sunlight (and then sometimes the opposite).
There was still conflict (and still is), but as the NCR grows in strength and is better able to help those in need, it’s.. less terrible.
War. War never changes, but when it has an end in sight, and that end is drawing closer each and every day, those who are enduring the horror of it all can and will endure. Since they have hope.

You know how I’m always commenting on ways in which our world resembles that of Fallout’s? Well, another example got pointed out to me by RooGryphon earlier, but with a 21st century spin. You see, despite it’s firm place in American history, the Pony Express lasted not even two years, but the concept of rugged individuals delivering packages across the land endured. In fact, the US Postal Service’s (unofficial) motto actually goes back to ancient Persian couriers, who were noted as being among some of the most brave mailmen in history, for all the terrain they had to cover to get their messages delivered. The term marathon comes from the Greeks, for a similar reason.
And so, while it isn’t quite a Mojave Express, there’s an idea underway to take that concept and apply modern social networking services (Twitter in particular is cited), and a get real world courier system going, which doesn’t use large vans or planes to ship stuff, just people.
I didn’t mention today’s version update anywhere, and had.. zero downloads. But when I do say so, I get a bunch.
Granted, I’m making changes gradually and they’re mostly of the bugfix variety so people who aren’t as obsessed with Fallout probably won’t care, but.. well.. I really wanna get more feedback on said creation. I think I can safely say at this point that Fallout: New Vegas is my #1 favorite game of all time, so I want to do all I can to make it “perfect”, and if that means tweaking, fixing or otherwise improving every single thing in the data files, then so be it.
A reminder that I’m loading NVEC’s Bugfixes patch, then applying my own mod after it, to fill-in-the-gaps. I’m NOT using the “enhancement” portion because I disagree with a lot of the changes.
So, should I keep posting about mod updates here, or regulate such notices to the Steam group only?
